Dolefield Cottages
We are trying to trace the history of Doe field Farm as it was called in the 19th century and maybe before that. Around 1890 it became 2 cottages. We would like to see any old photos that may exist. If anyone knows who lived in either cottages or farm prior to that and what their jobs were or what it looked like, also who the occupants were between 1910 and 1970. We have lived in one of the cottages since 1972 but its just been in the last few weeks that we have started to trace the history. As Bank Farm is so close to us any information on it would be useful aswell.
Madresfield Estate has the deeds for Dolefield (as they were not passed on to Stephen Ballard in 1919 we believe) but they will not give us any information on the cottages. So any information would be gratefully recieved

Bank Farm
Can give you some information on Bank Farm as I was more or less born there. My parents, Joyce and Arthur Doorbar, lived there from 1947 to 1954. I was born in 1950. When we lived there it was a fruit farm, maily growing cherries, but also apples, plums and damsons. A Mr Fox was the farm forman. He lived in one of the two cottages that are at right angles to the farm house. In the other cottage was one of the farm workers who's name may have been Martin.
My half uncle, Charles Edwin Doorbar, had also live at Bank Farm I was told, being brought up their by his aunt Elizabeth Locke (?)(nee Doorbar) when Locke was the tenant there.I think her marriage is recorded in the church in West Malvern.
My Great Grandfather, Edwin Doorbar had tenented the Croft Farm during the mid to late nineteenth century. We think he may moved there about 1840 from the Stoke-on-Trent area of Stafordshire. My Grandfather, Henry Edwin Doorbar (know locally as Harry 'ard apple after he stopped serving harvest cider due to an accident one year that killed a worker) tenented Cowleigh Gate Farm.
My mother had owned "Hipwood" the house next to the Croft Farm and close to one of the two drives leading up to Bank Farm. That was in the 1930s and the early part of the war. She also lived at "Mill Cottage" for some time between about 1943 and 1947. Her great friend was Gerty Armstrong and she also knew Nacy Armstrong of Lane End (?)

Dolefield
In the 1851 census one of my ancestors lived in what looks like Dolefield. It was the next property to Banks Farm. Dolefield was occupied by John Ruck, Wife Elizabeth Daughter Emma and John's widowed father Thomas. His occupation is given as Lime burner, with 14 acres of land and 2 Lab. (Labourers?), He seems to have moved in the 1861 census as he lives in Rucks Cottages. I know that being a lime burner was not a pleasant job as you had to stay on watch over the lime kilns and it was quite poisonous. Banks Farm was occupied by John Hill and his wife Sarah and 5 children and Samuel Bailey. John was a farmer of 70 Acres. There was also another family, Frederick Hill, Wife Anne and 5 children. They were farmers of 56 Acres.
Hope this is of some help.
