Parish Council Meeting 17th January 2008
The Cliffe Arms
The Council were delighted to hear from Gillian Menzies that she was
hoping to re-open the Cliffe Arms around Easter time. She was planning
to offer light lunches and afternoon teas as well as evening meals, and
possibly a small delicatessen type shop selling local products and home
made dishes. The pub would be offering a small but high quality range
of traditional fare, using locally sourced ingredients. This would be a
gradual programme depending on customer demand. The Council expressed
their total support for the re-opening of the Cliffe, and wished Ms
Menzies every success for the future.
Colwall Bridge
The Council agreed to send a letter of support to the Rev Carl
Attwood and the parishioners of Colwall in their efforts to resolve the
Colwall Bridge problems.
Cradley Youth Club
Cllr N Walker reported to the Council on the plans in progress to
re-start the Cradley Youth Club. Although based at the Scout Hut in
Cradley, the Club would have a catchment area covering all three local
parishes and beyond. The Committee were advertising for a youth worker
to head up a three hour session each week, but they were also looking
for 10-12 helpers to give their time with both junior and senior
groups.
Speed Limit
The Council considered two requests for a speed limit through
Mathon. However, speed limit representations had been made in the past
to Herefordshire Council, and checks carried out. Unfortunately, the
volume of traffic flow through the village is not high enough to merit
a limit being imposed.
Footpaths
The Clerk reported that Mr Chris Hook, our Footpaths Officer, had
successfully obtained further funding of £150 from Herefordshire
Council towards extra footpath work in the current financial year. This
was excellent news, and our thanks and appreciation go to Chris for his
continuing hard work and commitment.
